MS50 Results
One of the unique feature of the MS50 is that
you can change races during the race. In 2011, lots of folks did. In
addition to the usual reasons, (injury, not your day, undertrained,
ready for a longer distance), the damp conditions apparently did not
suit some runners. This complicates presenting the results. Running Bear
could not decide the best way to show all the changes. One way is to
show everybody on the sheet for the race they started. Another way is to
show everybody on the race they finished. Neither way is perfect, as
some who started a 50K or 50M but were credited with a 20K ran 25 miles
but not far enough to qualify as a 50K. Some 50K finishers switched from
50M after two big loops and ran 50K. Some 50K finishers switched from
50M after running 3 big loops. Some 50K finishers switched from the 50K
to the 50M but were stopped by the weather cut-off before they completed
50M, and so were credited with a 50K, even though they ran 37.5 or even
44 miles. The times from these various cases
are not comparable, so how do you order them?
Confused yet, RB is! So two
sheets are posted. Pick the one you like and ignore the other. If you
think of a better way to do it, e-mail me with your shipping address and
I'll send you all the source data as soon as it dries out a little more.
Results based on the
race you started - As posted Saturday
night, with a few corrections.
Results based on the
race you finished - Except to 50M folks who
were stopped by the weather cutoff and were credited with 50K. Those were
left on the 50M sheet as that is the race they otherwise would have
completed. And believe me, finishing 50K last Saturday was at least as
hard as completing the 50 Miler most years.
