If any of you are interested in Tuesday speed sessions, a group of us meet at Thames Elementary track on Jamestown on Tuesday nights at 5:15 pm. I am a has-been runner but still a pretty good coach and I have been coaching Vicki, Joni, Dawn, and Dana to some very good race times. I do not charge for this "valuable" advice. All I ask is that you agree to follow the schedule without me having to "motivate" you. I want to help self-motivated people as they strive to improve their running. In addition to the Tuesday sessions, we also do Saturday long runs of varying distances. We meet at various points on the Trace and each of us covers our individually planned distance. This requires some planning as we have to get people back to their cars, but with good communication we've been able to make it work. If any of you are interested in participating in the Tuesday track or the Saturday long runs (not this week since we're racing/recovering) contact me by email for additional information. Here is a copy of an email that I just sent to our current group: Vicki, Audrey and I will be at the track tonight. I imagine Joni, Dawn and Ginny are not wanting to run much after their great marathon races on Sunday. From now until late April, I should be in town most Tuesdays. I hope that we can continue to increase the numbers of participants in our speed sessions. It's so much easier to do them when you have company. Also, I know that the group support of the Saturday group long runs definitely contributed to recent successful races. Let's keep those going. For those of you who would like for me to work with you in designing a training program, be thinking about short-term goals/races and long-term goals/races. Also, have in mind days of the week that are best as rest days and days of the week that are good for your long run. In addition, if you know of days when you absolutely cannot run (travel, etc) let me know. What I usually do is purchase a couple of cheap planners (one for me and one for you) on which I write your daily workout. See you at the track... |
