Are you planning to run a marathon, half-marathon, multi-discipline event in the next weeks? Are you preparing for your first 10K, 5K or any other special event? If so, let us know! This space is dedicated to announcing the Pacers' next challenges. |
Kily Garcia 1.- Mardi Grass Marathon – February 25, I want to finish before the sponsors run out of beer and Cajun food….expecting Jim “fast” Coll to save something for me. Glad to get into the Super Dome finishing a marathon instead of Katrina’s time. 2.- ING Marathon. Atlanta, GA – March 25, a new event in Atlanta, still don’t want to know how hilly the course will be. I have driven through Atlanta before and I don’t want to know if we are having any hill roads in the course. 3.- Country Music Marathon – April 28, if I am not injured because of the last two, I am going to run in Nashville together with other Pine Belt Pacers (Don’t remember who else is doing it). Just in case, I still don’t register in this one, but I have the money ready. |
Dawn Smith I'm heading to Austin, TX tomorrow with my two partners in crime, Joni and Vicki, to run the marathon. I hear it's hilly so there are no expectations of a PR, just a good time and hopefully a good race! After that, I'd like to work on my 5k time as I search for another marathon to torture myself through. |
Ron Williams Upcoming for sure races include the Mardi Gras Marathon on February 25, The Georgia Marathon on March 25, the Bolder Boulder (10K) on May 28 and the New York City Marathon on November 4. In all cases I run as a member of Fred's Team with pledge amounts going to the Stephanie Noble Williams Fund for Young Adult Cancer Survivors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. I expect to raise about $10,000 this year for the fund. Best regards, Ron Williams |
Pijume Diwesi: 1. February 24, Mardi Gras Half Marathon in New Orleans (still thinking about it!) 2. March 2, Run Thru History 10K -- A killer hilly and challenging course! Any brave Pacer going with me to Vicksburg? 3. Azalea Trail Run 10K in Mobile on March 23 4. Crescent City Classic in New Orleans on April 7 |
Keith Barrett I am trying to get ready for the April 16th running of the 111th Boston Marathon. I am in the 8th week of a 16 week training program and the miles are piling up. I figure if I keep running with the Jim "grandson" Coll, I should be ready by the big day. Thanks Keith "da bull" Barrett |
Jim Coll Jim is planning to run the Mardi Gras Marathon as fast as he can but makes no promises. After that, he's going to attempt to have more fun the night after the Azalea Trail Run than the night before. Jim |
Donna Sumrall Okay Nestor, I'm taking a leap of faith and saying I'm doing the half marathon in Nashville at the end of April. Of course, I haven't signed up yet, but I plan to this week. Still trying to decide if Dale is doing it with me or simply holding down the fort while I make this attempt at craziness! Why am I doing this....why to celebrate my 48th birthday of course! Donna |
Bill Gasparrini I'm training for the Mardi Gras Marathon. My best time over the past six years of doing at least one or two marathons each year is 3:43. I'm hoping to beat that and set a PR this year. -Bill Gasparrini |
Jamie Walker I'm running my first half-marathon on Mar. 25 in Atlanta. I know I'll have to run/walk it, but am excited and nervous about the challenge. Thanks! - Jamie Walker |
Terry Ingram Seaside, FL half-marathon on March 4th, Terry Ingram |
Adrienne Hicks My next big challenge is having knee surgery;)! And I have never been so excited;)!! Ready to get it over with send you an email about my next big race;). |
