The Petal YMCA Fire Fly 5K run took place on Saturday, April 5 at the Trailwood Subdivision in Petal.  More than 80 people gathered at the Twin Pines Club House to run or walk in the event.  The race was dominated by the Pine Belt Pacers who placed first overall in both, the men and the women categories.  The race started at 7:00 pm sharp.  Over the first mile, Pine Belt Pacer Joni Dunbar led a group of three other runners jostling for the lead.  Then Pine Belt Rookie Ray Henderson passed her and stayed in the front position to the end.  He got the overall victory with a time of 20:24.  Joni finished third in 21:?? minutes and won the women division.  Behind her, in fourth position, came PBPacer Nestor Raul Anzola in 22:02.  Raul won his age group.  One minute behind in seventh place finished Charles Jackson in 23:32 closely followed by another PBPacer, Jodi Lee.  Charles placed third in his age bracket and Jodi won hers.  Other pacers present in the race were Frank Barrett, Dale and Dona Sumrall.  Frank won the Masters category (50+) and set a new PR while Dale finished second in his age group.  Dona had a good race and celebrated her birthday running 2 races during the day. © Pijume Diwesi
