436 runners showed up for the 7:30AM start time. Great weather! At race time, 69-degrees, wind from the east at 6. The race location was near “the tunnel”. The start and finish lines were on the south side of Spanish Plaza. The course was very, very flat. New PR’s were set! The course caught Water Street, went through downtown, then out under the I-10 overpass. There was a ¼-mile of brick street around mile 2. The bricks were no problem, flat and even. The biggest down-side was the 2 port-a-johns for over 400 runners who had been forcing fluids. The post-race food was unique: in addition to the usual fruit and bagels, they had Krispy-Kreme donuts and hotdogs! (I ate them both…..). First place male and female were both from Daphne, AL: John Bowie, 35, time 16:38, and Amy Huff, 37, time 19:04. Walkers: First place male, John Vignes, 60, from Chunchula, AL, time 32:59, and Emily Schoenberg, 45, from Mobile, time 33:16. © Eric Weill See results | |||
