Race Report by Raland Burks --->

Hello all-
New to the Pine Belt Pacers joined this year. I ran the half at Nashville and ran a 2:03 which is little above my goal time but it was my first half and I have never ran with so many people. It was shoulder to shoulder the entire 13.1 miles. I will say it was very hot and the course was hilly. Overall, I thought the event was well organized and will run it again next year. Great atmosphere.

Race Report by Ginny Dufrene --->

I had a GREAT weekend traveling with Kelly and Sondra. What can I say -
the race was hilly and HOT, unusually hot - it was reported that this was
the hottest CMM in the 10 years of the race (of course - I was signed up).
As we traveled to Nashville I had low expectation for my time, but thought
the worst I would possibly run would be 1:55, guess what, not even close.
I finished @ 2:02 - that's about 1 minute per mile slower than I ran in
Feb. @ the Pensacola half and 11 seconds slower per mile than my full
marathon race pace in Jan. Did I say that it was hot and hilly? It really
was. I expected the hills, but the hill heat combo was a little much.

Overall though, it was a fun r
ace. Lot's of people and support, very well
organized and they were definitely prepared for the extreme heat.

I am hoping that Kelly will submit her report in the next few days. Boy
did she pick a doozy for her first marathon. The hills were daunting but
when you add the heat conditions from this weekend, it was an overwhelming
test of endurance. Kelly and Sondra were amazing. They both finished the
marathon in fine fashion. They were both cramping up, but continued to the
finish and finished strong. Today, both of them continued to wonder what
they could have done differently to complete the race at a quicker pace. I
tried to help them to realize that today was not a typical marathon day
and that they truly should be proud to finish the race without a trip to
the hospital. In addition to the heat, Kelly also endured some asthma
issues, but continued to complete the 26.2. I am very proud of both of
them. Way to go Kelly and Sondra. I am looking forward to running the next
one with you guys (Huntsville here we come, yes?)
