About 38 runners showed up for the 4th annual Run with the Fog 5k Run Saturday morning. Twenty more participated in the 1 mile fun run. After a few pre race instructions by Richie Sumrall, Anita Sumrall, the race director, started the race. Sam Hudson and Terry Lawhead took the early lead and never were challenged. They battled through the race and at the end Sam beat Terry; both finished the course in less than 18 minutes. Neil Solomon was third and Richie Sumrall fourth. Ed Curtis and Keith Hilpp followed them. Alyssa Cairnes the first female finisher closely followed by Audrey the Gazelle Jackson. Sam and Alyssa took the overall awards. Terry and Audrey were the Masters winners. Ed Curtis and Robbie Headrick were the top grandmasters. All the Pine Belt Pacers placed in their age groups. It was a special race for Neil Solomon and Donna Sumrall since they are “officially leaving” the Masters category in a couple of hours. Both finished their last race in the category with a victory. By next week they will join the Grand Masters crew. I did ok; I ran, I walked, I stopped and took pictures, I ran again, walked again, stopped again, etc, etc… | |
