Race report from Neil Solomon

It was surprisingly cold and windy but at least not wet and hilly.  I do not think  I can continue to rhyme. But perhaps if I had run a better time.

Seriously folks, congratulations to the two Pacer teams finishing within 3 minutes of each other, 3:28 and 3:31.  I ran the first leg since I was also running the half marathon and my goal was to do the first 5 miles at my half marathon pace of 7 to 7:10.  I handed off the sweat band right at 35 minutes.  I eventually ran a 1:33:19 which is a 7:07 pace.  I wanted to run a faster race (a common dismay among runners) but my goal was to run an even pace race with as many of the miles as possible within a 10 to 15 second range, and I did 10 of the 13 miles in that range.  Much to my surprise after they determined  the overall and masters winners I ended up winning my age group (45-49).

The race location was great, the shirts food and course were all excellent.  The race length was very accurate, my Garmin had the half at 13.12.

Again congratulations and my thanks to all the pacers as the relay events are a great way to get more runners involved.  Neil
