My results: A PR of 24:08 (10 secs faster than my last race). This made me 2nd overall female. This was my first time placing in the overall category. You gotta love small races! The rotary club seemed pretty excited to be hosting this race and they were all very friendly. Plus they all wore matching shirts so you could tell who was who. The gift bag had lots of stuff including a cup, a pencil, and a water bottle. There were about 80 people running or walking. The race began promptly at 8 a.m. So promptly, in fact, that I returned from my warm up jog and went straight to the starting line. During the race: The odd thing during the race is that they had bottles of water and Powerade. At every mile or so there were volunteers with trash bags. So you were supposed to grab the bottle out of the cooler on the ground, keep the bottle until the next set of volunteers, and throw it in the trash bag. Needless to say, I skipped the water. After the race: The situation improved after the race. There was soda, water, Powerade, and Vitamin Water. Food included bananas and apples. Everyone received a ribbon. The results were calculated promptly. Overall male and female winners got a big gift basket and 2nd place (me!) got to chose 2 items from the prize table. 3rd place overall got 1 item from the prize table. All the runners that placed received a nice medal. At the end there was a raffle for the remaining prizes. All in all I got a matching outfit, a pair of shorts, and, from the raffle, a longsleeve Mizuno shirt. Cool! © Laura Anderson Attention all Rotary Run runners: Photos are now displayed at IWSM and are available for runners to take home. Their photographer tried to take everyone’s photo crossing the finish line with their time being displayed. The photos will be available until June 1.
