Ellisville Rotary Fest Annual 5K |
October 31 st Rotary Fest 5K Run
The annual Ellisville Rotary Festival, a Pine Belt Pacer Grand Prix event, was held on Saturday, October 31, 2009 with thirty people finishing the course. The rain and two races in Hattiesburg and Petal probably affected the crowd in a negative way. We lined up and after a prayer by Frank Barrett and some directions by Wendy Allen, race director, we were off and running. Aaron Gaithright took the early lead and never looked back. He won with a time of 18.41. Pine Belt Pacer President, Audrey Jackson, was the first female finisher with a time of 22.51. In addition to nice trophies, Aaron and Audrey won $50.00 each. Audrey was the Masters winner last year, and this year she was thirty seconds faster. Neil Solomon was the Masters male winner with a 19.13, and Vicki Copeland was the female Masters winner with a time of 24.25. Phillip Wedgeworth won the Grand Masters with a 21.24, and Becky Ryder was the female Grand Masters finishing with a 27.07. Dennis (39.58) and Sandy (39.57) Wargle made it a family affair by being the winners in the over 60 age group. Eric Weill (23.10), Jim Brewer (26.19), and Frank Barrett (28.17) were the 50-59 male winners. Richie Sumrall (20.06), Walt Struthers (22.46), and Tony Buckley (25.01) were the 40-49 male winners. Susan Davidson (33.59) won the female 40-49 group. Ray Henderson (20.38) and Scott Alexander (23.37) were the 30-39 winners. Serina Williamson (27.03) and Mandy Desantis (30.16) were the female 30-39 winners. Neil Sumrall (22.24), Taylor Lenthord (27.58), and Justin Landrum (31.05) were the winners in the 20-29 age males. Stephanie Hathorn (23.00) was the second overall female and the winner of the 20-29 age group. Evan Buckley (21.17), Dalton Williamson (24.55), and Erik Buckley were the under 19 male winners.
