Last Chance to Run 12/26/09 |
The annual Gulf Coast Running Club Last Chance to Run was held on Saturday, December 26 with a good group of runners participating in the one-mile, the 5K, and the 10K. For some reason Leonard took the day off from running today. I guess having to put out the course markers, help set everything up, direct the race, and give out the awards just did not leave time for running. Of course, Denise--the almost ever present--was there working hard as usual. Several others helped out also. Even Bob and Ed did something although no one knows exactly what. Paul Bodet easily won the 10K with about two minutes to spare over the second place finisher. Ninteen year old William Ladner won the 5K with a 20.18 just five seconds ahead of 67 year old David Jeffery. The Pine Belt Pacers were well represented. The entier Henderson family ran. This was the first every one-miler for Ash. Brother Bo, last year's Pine Belt Pacer Young Runner of the Year, was the first to complete the one-mile run. Dad, Ray, did well in the 10K. After spending the week eating too much good (or is it bad) food, Phillip Wedgeworth opted for the 5K. |
