Pearl River Ramble 5K/10K @ Henleyfield

This was the third annual Pearl River Ramble 5K/10K Race in Henleyfield. This race was well done with a beautiful hilly and challenging course. Thanks to Laura Oussett, President of the Henleyfield Community Inc. and all her volunteers for a well organized event. The course is well marked and the distance is true. A wonderful breakfast with coffee (Just for you Nestor), followed the run. Because of the draw of an opposing 10K in Hattiesburg, the turnout was small. I am hoping that next year we can assist with promoting this race and make it a bigger event so they will continue with the tradition. This year, even with the small turn out, several records were broken. Janet Earhart broke her own record for her age division in the 10K. I spoke to her briefly before the race, and she ran well below the time that she wanted to run. She along with her husband Rock, were the master winners in the 10K. Michael Scott ran a 35:34 in the 10K, which actually beat his age group record, and the course overall record set by Robin Ryder. (Robin, if you are not coaching a meet next year, you may have to recapture the gold)! In the 5K Whitney Neal in the 0-14 age group set a course record with a time of 44:43. I believe jessica Miller also set a course record! (If I have left anyone out, I apologize, as I am doing this from memory). Dickie Longo, in the 70 plus age group had an impressive 28:05 5K time, I hope I look as good and run as well as this gentleman, at any age!! This race gets better every year, I recommend it highly! Please see complete results.
