The 8K On The Parkway was held in Ridgeland on May 29 with about 200 people running the 8K and another 55 race walkers. The race started at 7:00, which is when all races shoud start this time of the year and until well into the fall. We lined up and listened to Jack give us the directions to run straight for about 2.5 miles and then turn around and come back. The course was slightly downhill for the first half of the race, which meant that it was slightly uphill for the second half of the race. The first three finishers in each category each won money. The Pine Belt Pacers were well represented. Jennifer Henderson came in third in the race walk and won money. Nester Anzola was the Masters winner in the race walk. Ray and Bo Henderson were first in their age groups as was Phillip Wedgeworth. Ash Henderson moved up in an age group and came in second. After the race, we had plenty of good foood and drink. A few lucky people won wine as door prizes, but none of the PBPers were lucky enough to win any. |
