The third annual Canton Academy Panther Run was held on Saturday, March 6 with a good group of runners and walkers present. The one-mile run had about 25 kids to participate. The Pine Belt Pacers were extremely well represented at this race. Ray Henderson took the lead after about a mile and easily won with a time of 19:45. Phillip Wedgeworth was third overall and won the Grand Master's award with a 20.57. The first female was Elizabeth Pace coming in at 22.02. Darren Owens was the Masters winner with a PR 21.22. Jennifer Henderson was the first female race walker and Larry Sykes was the first overall race walker. Rounding out the PBPers were Bo and Ashyln Henderson. Ashyln was first in her age group, and Bo placed in his group. The course was relatively flat with a couple of inclines, but no hills to speak of. After the race we had plenty of water, sports drink, bananas, and cookies. This race was well organized with five-year age groups--all that anyone could ask for. Results are attached.
