The annual Mississippi Track Club Half Marathon was held on Saturday, December 11 with 215 people finishing the certified course. Caleb Hammons took the early lead and easily won with a time of 1:17.13, which was well over five minutes faster than the second place finisher. Jody Ogletree, who has lost well over 50 pounds in the last 18 months, was the Masters Winner. Paul George of the famous George running family was the Gand Masters winner, and Al Waddell was the Senior Masters winner. On the women's side, Shannon Carson was the female winner, Dawn Polo was the Masters winner, Debbie Minor was the Grand Masters winner, and Cindy McMasters was the Senior Masters winner. The Pine Belt Pacers were represented by Phillip Wedgeworth and Ray Martin. Phillip won his age group, and Ray ran very well, but was in a very tough age group. After the race we enjoyed plenty of pizza, cookies, fruit, soft drink and water. This is a great half even though the course if quite difficult, and the price for a half can't be beat. Much thanks to Jack and all of the MTC people who worked hard to make this race a success. Also thanks the Madison and Ridgeland PDs for keeping the runners safe. |
