Pace to Bay 10K 12/18/2010 |
The twenty-eighth annual Pass to Bay 10K was held on December 18 with a record number of participants. This is a point to point race which crosses a railroad track and a 2.3 mile bridge with a very large uphill climb. Samson Kipchirchir took the early lead and won with a 34:20, which was over a minute ahead of the second place person Kyle Lewis. Leah McBride was the first female finisher. Leonard Vergunst won the Masters. Maureen Koch was the female Masters. Bill Gasparrini and Janet Earhart were the Grand Masters winners. Gerald Miller and his wife, Glenda Faye, were the Senior Masters winners. The Pine Belt Pacers had a great representation at this race. Toby Brown won his age group. Toby said that Keith was planning to come to this race, but Deborah wouldn't allow him to leave home on the Saturday before Christmas. Additionally Carolyn Cegielshi, Lori and Daniel Bartran, Rick and Laura Youngblood, Eric Roberts, and Phillip Wedgeworth were all present and some of those placed in their age groups. After the race, we all enjoyed plenty of food, soft drinks and beer. This is one of the best 10Ks in the state and should be placed on everyone's race schedule.
