Peanut Festival Run 5K / 1 Mile 09/24/2011 |
On Saturday, September 24, Phillip and Peggy Wedgeworth represented the Pine Belt Pacers at the Peanut Festival Run in Plains, Georgia. I am not sure why no other Pine Belt Pacers decided not to drive 370 miles to run. About 200 people ran in the 5K. Phillip won his age group. Peggy won her age group in the one-mile. The most interesting item about this race is that former President Jimmy Carter passes out the awards. This is the first time that I have ever seen the presenter surrounded by secret service agents. On the Sunday after the race, we went to President Carter's Sunday School class. President Carter teaches Sunday School about 40 times a year. Before getting to the church, we had to have our vehicle searched by a secret service agent and his bomb dog. Then we had to be scanned and searched before entering the church.
