Results from the August 23rd Track Meet

The first ever Pine Belt Pacer track meet was held Monday, August 23 at the USM track. The competition consisted of four events: 800 meter run, 4 x 100 shuttle relay, 4 x 400 relay and the 1600 meter run. Since this was the inaugural club meet, all performances are now listed as club records. The team championship was won by the foursome of Robin Ryder, Vicki Copeland, Mostafa Khannouchi, and Keith Barrett. The second place team members were Jim Coll, Jessi Black, Deb Osteen, and Bob Press.

The highlight of the meet was the 4 x 400 relay where Robin Ryder ran a 61 second anchor leg to make up an 80 meter deficit as he overtook Deb Osteen within the last 10 meters. All the athletes are to be commended for turning such great performance, racing four events over the course of less than an hour. What a speed workout!
