LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!

As you run for a good cause on Joe Cain Day in Mobile, Alabama.  Come and experience Mardi Gras the way it's supposed to be.  Fun, Food, Friends and all for a good cause.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2004 WILL BE THE

14TH ANNUAL JOE CAIN CLASSIC 5K RUN, 1 MILE WALK/RUN

AND THE QUARTER MILE MOON PIE DASH

This race has grown every year since its inaugural in 1991, and it is considered by many within the competitive running community to be the third largest race in Mobile.  Last year over 500 runners, walkers and wheelchair entrants participated in the event.  The Joe Cain Classic is more than a 5K run, which by the way is a certified course this year.  It is also a family event featuring a one-mile walk/run and a quarter-mile “Moon Pie” dash that involves (mostly) children.  After the running events, there is a large block party with refreshments and music for all participants.

Since 2001 proceeds from each year’s race have been donated to challenged athletes, and the generous support of our sponsors has enabled us to provide much needed funding for wheelchairs, training camps and other support for physically challenged athletes.  For 2004 we have chosen Camp Rap-A-Hope to be the recipient of the race proceeds.  Camp Rap-A-Hope is a camp for children who have faced the challenges of living with cancer.  Although the children attending camp each year might not be considered athletes, for one week each summer they can focus on fun-filled athletic activities such as swimming, basketball, tennis and hiking, instead of the disease that takes much of the fun out of childhood.  It is our hope that the proceeds from the 2004 Joe Cain Classic will enable many more children to attend camp.

To register for the 2004 Joe Cain Classic you may register online at www.active.com, or print the attached application and mail, or e me back and I'll be glad to mail you applications for your entire group.  If you are unable to attend the run but would still like to help us support Camp Rap-A-Hope, you may mail your tax-deductible donation to Bay Area Runners, P.O. Box 2161, Daphne, AL 36526 and mark it donation for the kids.  If you would like to help with the race in any way please call Eloise Duff at 251-510-5270.

The Bay Area Runners would like to express our gratitude for your generosity and your support of the Joe Cain Classic.  Please forward this e-mail to all of your members.  And LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!!!
