Well, we did it again! We rolled our sleepy butts out of bed to drive
up to Hattiesburg , actually Sumrall MS to run a 10K on The Longleaf
Trace. We got there at 8 o'clock and no one else was there. Ok they've
canceled the race and no one told us. Well by and by this couple
showed with water jugs and some other goodies. Ok, now we were in
business. Soon there after others showed and race began to take shape.
There was much discussion about the drive back from Memphis by
some of the runners that had gone up for the USM bowl game. Anyhow the
temp. had warmed up to near perfect conditions with no wind. @
9:01 we took off and ran down the road for 3.1 miles and turned around
and came back. It was just great to start the new year with 6 plus
miles in the log book. Ok in my case My new Christmas toy. My Garmin
forerunner 201. The little 3 oz. sucker carries more memory than
my first PC. It tells how far how fast and at what pace per mile and
will show you a map after you finish of where you ran.
The race ended with door prizes and cookies and nanners. Also water
and soft drinks. All this for 2 bucks. Ok it cost me $20 I paid
for two of my friends and finally joined the Pine Belt Pacers running
club. See the results when Running Bear gets around to it. Happy New
Year yall! © Bob Clark
