The 2004 Mississippi Senior Olympics
5K run/walk was held on Saturday,
June 5, at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi with a good
crowd of runners and race walkers. After a few instructions from
Mississippi Track Club Race Director, Jack Ward, Jack shot the gun, and
we were off on our course around the campus and finishing on the track
at the football field. Tad Jurgens from West Monroe came over to win the
Mississippi Senior Olympics. Phillip Wedgeworth came in second, with
Richard Sims coming in third, and Dave Becket was the fourth finisher.
The Pine Belt Pacers represented the club well with three of the first
four finishers. Phillip and Dave won their age groups. This was Dave's
first race as a fifty-five year old. Richard ran well and was second in
his age group. The first two in each age group qualifies for the
National Senior Olympics. Thanks to everyone who worked hard to put this
race on and make it a success. For complete results see the

Track Club web site. ©
