St. Patrick’s Day 5K
Biloxi, MS

Saturday, March 13, 2004 three Pine Belt Pacers traveled to Biloxi to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day 5K that began at 10 a.m. in downtown.  Jerry Worley and Bob Clark ran well and both placed first in their age group.  Burtch Davis and I had a large time . . . afterwards.  We ran well enough to finish the race and have our name listed in the results.

The refreshments of beer, water, sports drink and oranges were all we weary, hot runners needed.  The festivities afterward made my poor performance worth the trip.  A nice lunch at McElroy’s followed by a walk through the parade lineup on Beach Boulevard was enjoyable.  At 2:00 p.m. the parade went into full swing.  I am thinking of giving some of my beads to Running Bear to help him handle his defeat in Saturday’s Timberton 5K.  His embarrassment is so great, I understand that he is considering moving out of the neighborhood.

As usual we received a good looking shirt and lots of hospitality by the sponsors and Gulf Coast Running Club.  They always provide a great atmosphere!
