The second
annual Ellisville Fest Annual 5K Run/Walk and one mile fun
run was held on October 29 with a fairly good group of
runners. The course starts on Court Street in Downtown
Ellisville and goes through the campus of Jones Junior
College. After a few instructions from Wendy Allen, we were
off. Max Lemons, who traveled up from the coast, took the
early lead and had no trouble winning. Veteran Vickie
Copeland was the first female finisher. Keith Barrett and
Martha Ray Sartor were the Masters winners and Phillip
Wedgeworth and Becky Ryder were the Grand Masters winners.
Ed walker was the only over 60 runner. Michael Deaton and
Bob Clark were the 50-59 winners. Vance Flosenser and Ray
Martin were the 40-49 winners. John Oliver and Keith Hilpp
were the 30-39 age group winners. Michael Lindley and Damone
Baldridge were the under 19 winners. On the female side,
Dawn Smith and Leann Fletcher were the 30-39 winners. Jenna
Spears and Ashley Calhoun were the 20-29 winners. Chrisandra
Brown was the only under 19 female. After the race we had
water, Gatorade, and Bananas. Thanks to Wendy Allen and
Jeremy Felder for their hard work in putting this race on.
Also thanks to clock operators Hollie Ryder and Burch Davis.
Once the race was over many of us went downtown to the
Festival and enjoyed a hardy breakfast of pancakes. Once
again thanks to all of the runners and workers for making
this event a success.
