Okatoma 5K Run

Burtch Davis, Sandra Ford (my sister) and I ran the Okatoma 5K Saturday, May 7 in downtown Collins, MS.  After the Pledge to the flag and singing of the National Anthem, 54 runners and 36 walkers took off.   It is an enjoyable course with rolling hills.  The cooler than usual temperatures with overcast skies made for a good run, although I set my personal worst time record.  No split times were given nor were mile markers available.  Water was distributed at the half way mark in the Collins City Park.  Split times and mile markers are a nuisance anyway.

Our trio took home some medal.  Sandra was the grand masters winner, Burtch was first in his age group and I was second in my age group.  Afterwards we enjoyed the festival that featured an Extension Homemakers Club quilt show, plenty of food, entertainment and craft booths.
