There was a good turnout in Wiggins April 2, 2005 for the Pine Hill 10K/5K/1 mile runs. 16 people ran 10K, about 30 ran 5K, and about 15 ran 1 mile. The weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. We don't have complete results but believe that Max Lemmons won the 5K and Guy Truett won the 10K. Phillip Wedgeworth won his age group in the 5K. In the 10K, Martha Ray Sartor won her age group, Nancy Phillips was second female and won her age group, Neil Clark won his age group, and Bob Clark won his age group.  Running Bear was the only living member of the over 60 group. The Sherman family won so many awards (some of them won 2) they had to go get their truck to haul them all home. After the run, everyone enjoyed a nice festival. The crawfish stuffed bread was to die for!

The 5K and 10K started on the same gun, in different directions.
Since Running Bear took this picture, and clearly was across the
start line at the start, he should have been disqualified, but this
infraction apparently slipped by the officials

Martha Ray charges up a hill, closely followed by Mr. Architect from Long Beach and part of the motorcycle corps which provided course monitors

The course went through several pe-can orchards

Martha Ray finished with a sprint

A magnificent pine tree across from the start/finish line had
zillions of teeny pine cones and lots of moss de Espanola

Since Max Lemmons won the 5K, he got to announce

The Youth Corps did very well
