The second annual Steam Whistle 12K was a rousing success, with over 80 finishers, great weather, and good food. Thanks to the high number of entries and the generosity of the sponsors, over $2500 was raised for the Longleaf Trace. Sponsors included Lamar County Board of Supervisors, Southeastern Concrete Company Inc., Hattiesburg Coca-Cola, and Smith Petroleum Co., Inc., and Subway of Oak Grove.

After the race awards were presented, Pine Belt Pacer President Jim Coll presented the 2005 club awards:
