SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 2005- A windy morning nor “soccer ball runners” could get in the way of overall winner Alaeeddine Khannouchi from winning the 5k Soccer Ball Chase sponsored by Soccer Locker and City Runners with a blazing time of 15:13.  Khannouchi took the early lead and crossed mile one in a speedy 4:50 mile.

On the women’s side, 14 year-old Amy Benoit won her first 5k road race ever with a time of 21:14, more than 2 minutes faster than her previous personal record.

Of course the race would not have been called the “5k Soccer Ball Chase” without our soccer balls.  A special thank you to Clay Armstrong and Sarah Stetelman who ran the 5k in a soccer ball costume.

Soccer Locker and City Runners raffled off dozens of running related items from running shoes to fuel belts and almost nobody left empty handed.   Stephen Stetelman was the winner of the Grand Raffle Prize that included over $500 in merchandise at Soccer Locker and City Runners. Soccer Locker And City Runners has enjoyed organizing The Winter Race Series and look forward to do more in the future.

This was the final race of the three part Winter Race Series sponsored by Soccer Locker and City Runners. Stay tuned for more information on the Summer Race Series.

As a member of the Pine Belt Pacers, I would like to thank the Soccer Locker & City Runners group for putting an excellent series of three running events. The door prizes and other awards were the best that I've seen at any running event. I hope that all of you will support the store so that they can be as successful as the events that they sponsor.   Becky Ryder
