The 29th annual St. Paul's Seafood Festival 5K was held in Pass Christian on Saturday, June 4, with 143 people finishing the 5K and about 20 one-milers. This is an out and back course, which should result in fast times. The heat, however, slowed some of us down a bit. After a few instructions, we were off, and fifty-three year old Bill Gasparrini took the lead and held it for over two miles before being passed by Scott Lee, the eventual winner. This was what is becoming typical--a race dominated by runners over 40. Five of the top ten finishers were over 40 and three of those were over 50. Bill Gasparrini and Janet Shepp were the Masters winners, and Ed Wheeler and Fe Laughlin were the Grand Masters winners. Nick Burrows traveled over from Mobile to win the race walk division. The Pine Belt Pacers were represented at this race by Nestor Raul Anzola who finished third in the race walk and also by Phillip Wedgeworth who was first in his age group. This was another quality race put on by the Gulf Coast Running Club. Thanks to Denise, Terry, Richard, and all of the Gulf Coast Running Club for an outstanding job. See Results
