Congratulations to the Gulf Coast Running Club and The
YMCA for putting on a great two mile race today. Manly
the Clark Street running guys and Leonard Vergunst.
The race was
attended by over two hundred runners. The course was a
down hill point to point race. We started at the Y and
finished up down on the beach . Another good feature of
the race was the fact the course was mostly shaded.
There was one mishap. It seemed that one of our top over
fifty runners fell about a third of a mile before the
finish but seemed OK after the race. After questioning
him afterwards he said he had done a 13 miler Sun. and
had not sufficiently hydrated prior to the race. The
after race party consisted of awards for the most
patriotic costumes. and a 1/4 mi. kids run. Goodies were
water, Gatorade, watermelon, nanners, and cookies. the
trophies also had a patriotic flair. Check the results
