2006 AZALEA TRAIL RUN 10K – TEAM COMPETITION
Hey guys, great race reports sent by Becky, Tony and Steve! I am just going to talk a little about the Pine Belt Pacers Team Competition. We had 26 official runners from our club in the Azalea Trail Run, a number large enough to have 8 or 9 teams. As Becky says: “Twenty-five Pacers had the honor to run with the Fastest Colombian Living in Hattiesburg in the 10K ATC” J
The evening before the race, while being hosted by Mrs Barbara Coll, Jim’s mother, each pacer donated $5.00 to benefit educational projects on the Longleaf Trace. Then they were drawn in six groups of three. Six fast and serious athletes were seeded at the draw and assigned as team captains. They were: Jim Coll, Keith Barrett, Tony Mozingo, Joni Dunbar, Kim Ryder, and Keith Hilpp. The other Pacers were later drawn at random and assigned to these teams. At the end, the Pacers were divided as follows:
Team 1: HERE FOR THE BEER Jim Coll, Deborah Barrett and Steve Ulery Team 2: BEATIES & THE BEAST Dana Christensen, Chrissy Herrington and Tony Mozingo Team 3: MIXED NUTS Joni Dunbar, Kili Garcia and Nestor Raul Anzola Team 4: THE ROOKY AND THE HOTTIES Keith Hilpp, Brandy Windham and Dawn Smith Team 5: CHICKS IN CHARGE Kim Ryder, Ginny Dufrene and Becky Ryder Team 6: WINE SPILLERS Keith Barrett, Deedre Coll and Vicky Copeland
The six runners not present in the meeting were included with Hollie Ryder, Darleen Schauer and a guest, Mr Samuel Ndereba, a somehow fast Kennyan runner, in three teams as follows:
Team 7: JCJC’s 2 FIT 2 QUIT Phillip Wedgeworth, Richard Sims and Nadine Archuleta Team 8: MELTING POT PRONATORS Darleen Schauer, Mustafa Khannouchi and Samuel Ndereba Team 9: GEEZERS BUT NOT WHEEZERS Hollie Ryder, Bob Clark, and Bill Gasparrini
Team Scoring All 3 runners of each team score. The ranking during the team competition is done according to the total cumulative time of the three members. Of course, the team with the fastest cumulative time will be declared as the official winner of the 2006 ATR Pine Belt Pacers Club Intra-teams Competition.
These are the overall times for all the Pine Belt Pacers
Mustafa Khannouchi 37:13 Keith Barrett 39:54 Jim Coll 39:55 Bill Gasparrini 43:33 Steve Ulery 43:57 Tony Mozingo 45:48 Joni Dunbar 45:57

Congratulations
to the winners, Jim, Deborah, and Steve. However, watch out! We are not
sure what Mr Ulery has been consuming in his diet during the last
months. His times for the 5K, 10K, half Marathon, and Marathon have
been improving so fast! Whatever it is, it works perfectly!

Sorry the PBP Club is not included in the official results of the ATR event. We were so many, and we were so ‘fast’ and noisy, the organizers had already desqualified all our teams even before the race started, LOL. Thanks to every PBP Pacer for being so patient with the annoying e-mails and for being part of this competition and this nice family, the Pine Belt Pacers Club. © Nestor Raul
