Dauphin Island 5K |
Nancy,
Dwight and I went to LA , lower Alabama this sat for a flat,
fast 5k on Dauphin Island . The race must have been held in
conjunction with the Geritol Club of America cause there were
more old grey headed folks there than I have ever seen. The race
started @ 8:10. Why? I don't know. The best thing about the race
was they gave out Cool Blue Tie dyed t-shirts. Also there were
plenty of after race goodies. They gave out coffee mugs, pens ,
Beer, pizza, cookies, nanners, soft drinks etc. They had over
300 runners and walkers taking part. The worst thing about the
race was the fact that they only had one porta potty open with
about a half a role of T.P. in it. Us real runners always carry
T.P. and Vaseline to the races. They did manage to get some
other potties open in the building prior to race start. Like I
said they did have a lot of old dudes at the race. As I was
approaching the finish line some gnarly old dud went by me and
in the chute I asked him his age and he said 65. As it turned
out I was 10th in my age group 55-59 and Dwight was also 10th in
the 50-54. However Nancy did manage to get 1st in her age group.
