The third annual Ellisville Fest 5K and one-mile fun run was held on October 28 with about 40 people participating. We had a nice cool day with some wind that seemed to slow us down a little, but Leonard Vergunst, race director of the Gulf Coast Running Club had little trouble handling the course and easily winning.  His personal driver for the day, Mike Deaton, complained about hills, but being from the coast caused him to think any slight elevation to be a hill. Jim Coll, President of The Pine Belt Pacers, continues to run strong and came in second overall. Richie Sumrall came in third and took the Masters. Phillip Wedgeworth was the Grand Masters winner. Audrey Jackson continued her winning ways and took top female honors. Donna Sumrall, who was the only Sumrall present today not to actually be from Sumrall, was the Masters winner. Will Morgan and James Wiggins won the under 19 division. Kasey Bridges and Scott Miller won the 20-29 age group. Jim Coll and John Oliveri were the first 30-39 finishers. Keith Barrett and the fastest Colombian (spelled it right for a change), Nestor Raul Anzola, won the 40-49 division. Mike Deaton took his age group. Jessi Leonard ws the first female under 19. Claire Magee and Brandy Windham won the 20-29 female group. Glenda Leonard and Johanna Darcy were the 30-39 female winners. Tina Raybon and Anita Sumrall were the 40-49 winners. After the race we enjoyed the usual fruit, sport drink and water. Thanks to everyone who worked hard to make the run a success. © Phillip Wedgeworth  See Results
