Gulf Coast Marathon 5K November 25th 2006

On Saturday, November 25, 462 people finished one of the three races at the Gulf Coast Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K.The weather was perfect with temperatures in the low 40s for the start of the race. After a few instructions by Leonard Vergunst, we were off and running. The Pine Belt Pacers were well represented. Sheryl Chatfield finished the half marathon fifth overall and captured the Masters award. Phillip Wedgeworth was able to win the Masters in the 5K. Ian Bergin placed in his age group in the Marathon. After the race everyone enjoyed good food and plenty of drink. One good thing about Katrina is that the Stennis Space Center had to build a new area which we were able to use for registration and the awards. Also the Cyprus House has been remodeled and a new screened patio area has been added. All in all this was a great experience for all of the runners. Complete results are available on the Gulf Coast Running Club web site. © Phillip Wedgeworth
