On June 16^th, Rob Apple left Murfreesboro for the nine hour drive to Davis, WV for the 4^th annual Highlands Sky 40 Mile that was held on Saturday, June 17^th.

This is a point to point course of 40 miles through Dolly Sods and Canaan Valley in the Monongahela National Forest. 75% single track with some very rocky sections. Two miles of pavement at start and finish. Time limit: 12 hrs. Field limit: 200.

Rob ran this race last year and finished in 11:05:01. He said that he got lost on the trail. This year, he finished in 10:43:34 and stayed on course. This was Rob’s 457th lifetime ultra finish and has finished all four of the Highlands Sky races.

The temperatures soared into the 90’s and with much of the trail in full sunshine, resulted in a very hot run.
