Holiday Run and Party
December 9, 2006

The 2nd annual Holiday Run and Party were enjoyed by approximately 25 members – of which 14 participated in the run.  We were all very surprised and honored when Santa himself showed up to run with us!  He’s decided to try to keep his weight down, so he’s taken up running – and is quite good at it might I add.  Santa led us into downtown, first stopping off to hear Christmas music by some dulcimer players.  We then headed to the A Gallery and enjoyed the shopping and refreshments.  After rescuing Santa from some children, we ran off to Walnut Circle Grill where we were entertained by T Bone Pruitt and his awesome blues music.  We also did some entertaining as we took over the dance floor with a little electric slide.  Our next stop was Dunn House Bed and Breakfast where we crashed a private party.  Then it was back to my house, after we stopped and listened to carolers at Bay Street Presbyterian Church.

Everyone seemed to really enjoy seeing Santa and his elves running down the streets.  We got lots of honks and waves and even were filmed by WDAM.  We managed to get in about 3.5 miles and Santa reports that he lost about 5 lbs!

We returned to my house and fellowshipped with food, drink, “dirty Santa” gift exchange, and lots of running and racing stories.  Thanks to everyone who came and brought food.  I really enjoyed being the hostess and my mistletoe headband finally inspired a couple of kisses!  Oh, BTW, as Santa was leaving (by way of my fireplace), I heard him exclaim, “Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night – see ya in Boston!”
