Congratulations to
Pine Belt Pacer Corey Rigdon on his performance at the Kentucky
Select Track and Field Meet in Lexington, Ky., on Saturday. Corey
placed 27th in the Men's 1-Mile Run with a time of 4:37.19, which
sets a club record. Corey also finished 20th in the 800 meters with
a time of 2:06.39.
Other Mississippi athletes coached by Pacer Yousri
Elmejdoubi performed well. Cory McGee, who was the first woman in
the Run for Love 5K last week, won the women's mile in a time of
5:02.06 and finished third in the 800 meters in 2:14.55. Brittany
Griffis finished 23rd in the mile with a time of 5:42.43. Amber
Griffis finished 24th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.48. Ana
Smith finished 40th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:51.80. Brach
Barham finished 44th in the men's mile in 4:51.97 and 31st in the
800 meters with a time of 2:18.78.

The
Kentucky high school track and field indoor
meet was February 18th 2006. Cory McGEE the 8th grader
from Pass Christian who is a member of The U-Coach running team
in Hattiesburg MS Performed and became the first female and 13
year old distance runner to ever qualify for the
National
High School Championchip race which will be held in New York
City March 10th-March12th. She will be running the high school
girls Mile and she has a good chance to win the title. This
Saturday in Lexington Kentucky she competed against one of the
nations' hottest milers and she finished first, and not only
that one hour later she competed in the girls 800m again
against the fastest girls in the country and finished 3rd and
collecting the crown for THE MVP OF the Meet her time in the
Mile was 5:02.06. and the 800m was 2:14.55. Next race for Cory
McGEE will be the 5k Track challenge this coming up Saturday Feb
25th 2006 at The USM Track where she will try to break the 5k
national record which she missed 2 weeks ago at The Run for Love
5K. Cory will try to run sub 17:00 |
