The Mississippi
Marathon was held on Saturday, January 14 with 147 people
finishing the marathon. Chuck Engle took the early lead and
had no problem winning with a time
of 2:41.30. The Masters Winner was veteran runner, Greg
Gearhart. The female winner was Tracy Stewart with a time of
3:10.50. The female Masters winner was Sheryl Chatfield
(a Pine Belt Pacer member). The
local Pine Belt Area was represented with Randy Saxon, Iva
Lightsey, Ian Bergin, David Dill, and Phillip Wedgeworth.
This is a good marathon and the course is fairly flat with a
few rolling hills. The volunteers give good support on the
course. After the race we had plenty of food and drink.
