Largest Trail Run in the South

Race Report from the Jackson's for The Spillway Classic in Norco LA

I am sorry this report is so late!!  Let me do the race statistics stuff
first, then I will get to the "real race report".  The course this year was
rated around a 3 out of 10.  Last year it was an 8.  What this means is that
the course was a lot dryer this year.  There were more trees and less mud.
It was muggy.  however it was overcast so this helped with the overall heat
conditions.  There were aprox. 889 runners/walkers.  I placed 16th out of
333 women overall. with a time of 24:13.  Charles placed 131 out of 566 men
with a time of 24:37.  (Yes, I beat him, again!!)  There were prizes for the
first 5 men and women, then the master's and grandmasters.  I was edged out
for the master's by a runner from Florida. We did improve on last year's
time by aprox. 3 minutes.    The course was well marked this year.  (Thank
goodness, last year  I was lost in the woods).

Okay, here is the real "scoop".  Charles tells me he could have beat me this
year if he was faster on the levee.  Well, I say, if you coulda, you
shoulda, but you didn't!!  HA!  I think he was a little too focused on a
running club called "Team Nice Ass".  Every year these gals show up wearing
very little and "Team Nice Ass" stamped on their briefs.  You have to be a
very confident person to wear this stamped on your butt.  The thing is,
these girls can run!!  Two of them were in the top five!!  Speaking of
wearing very little, and I don't want to be the fashion police,  and sorry
if I am about to offend someone, but what is it with these teeney little
briefs that some of the men wear??  If you wear these briefs, you should be
justified by either being very fast, or  having an excellent body.  I was
stuck behind a man on the trails wearing thin nylon panties.  You can't pass
anyone on the trail, so I knew his posterior intimately.  It wasn't pretty.

Okay, moving on.  The post race party was good.  Lots of food, lots of adult
beverages.  I really don't know how Charles can eat and drink like he does
after a race.  It takes me a while before I can eat anything.  All  in all,
a good race if you like trail runs.  Next year I will have a strategy plan.
I will run as hard as I can on the Levee to secure a place on the trail.
Once you are on the actual trail, there are very few places to pass.  You
end up running single file behind someone in blue sheer, panties. Until next
race report, Run on!!! © Audrey Jackson
