Hot and humid at 7:00 pm.
Thank goodness there was a little cloud coverage!! Charles chose this race because of the carbonated beverages following the race. (Free Beer). This always seems to movtivate him to run a little faster because the lines to the beer trucks are a little shorter. But, alas, because of his excessive training the day before the race, he wasn't fast enough to pass me by. Of course, when I finish first, I am supposed to jump in line, but I wasn't very obedient. Charles ran a respectable 23:40, and I ran a personal best of 22:54. If ya'll have been following our little family competition, you know that Charles and I are tied. His personal best at his previous race is also 22:54. You know, maybe one day we should just try and run together at a race. What a concept!! Charles said he did think about it at a race when he was sprinting past me, but he just couldn't help himself. Charles was 60th out of 150 men, I was 8th out of 105 women. I won my age group. Okay, less about us and more about the race. This race was through a neighborhood. Which is usually okay, but in the first part of the race we all had to squeeze between the cars on each side of the road. As the race progressed, the roads opened up and there was more room. There were a couple of hills but nothing major. It truly seemed like this race would never end!! Overall, a good race. The Club South Runners did a fine job. See Results. This race was well organized and the turnout was good. The overall male winner had a time of 16:20, overall female 21:04, male masters 17:43, male grandmasters 20:10, female masters 22:17, female grand masters 21:33, (she was also 2nd overall)! A good race with food, drink, and massages for all. We will probably run this one next year. Take care, and run on!! © Audrey Jackson |
