Run For Life 5K

After a few race instructions from race director Amanda Barnes, the first annual Greene County Hospital Run For Life 5K was underway last Saturday in Leakesville, MS. The race started and ended at the hospital. The course was mostly flat and ran through town, down Main Street, and back through the community. The race proceeds will go to Relay For Life.

Christy Pickering and Kelton Turner represented the Pine Belt Pacers in the 5k Run. Kelton finished first in his age group and Christy was the overall female winner also finishing first in her age group.

After the race, Gatorade, water and snacks were enjoyed by all the runners. There were door prices given and awards were handed out. Thanks to Greene
County Hospital staff and all the organizers and volunteers for a nice race. Hopefully, it will stay in the schedule for many years and with more athletes participating in the future. © Christy Pickering
