The 2007 Tomato Festival 5K Run/Walk was held in Cyrstal Springs on Saturday, June 30 with a good crowd of runners and walkers. After listening to the instructions from MTC Race Director, Jack Ward, we were off and running. Miles Martin and Tyler Kirk took the early lead and stayed very close until the two mile mark. At that point Martin took over and outpaced Kirk by 23 seconds to take the win with a time of 17.07. Fifteen year old Annalee Pierce was the frist female finisher with a fast time of 19.55. Mark Lipking was the Masters winner with a 19.13, and Lori Spotswood was the female Masters winner with a 26.06. Phillip Wedgeworth repersented the Pine Belt Pacers by winning the Grand Masters with a 20.43, and fellow or should I say lady Pine Belt Pacer Amy Keywood was the female Grand Masters Winner with a 24.33. David King was the first race walker with a 30.50, and Caroly Graham, who wants to know what happened to Nestor, was the female race walker winner with a 33.31. This was a very hot race, but we had some good times. After the race we enjoyed watermelon, bananas, and plenty of fluids.
