I went yesterday to Madison, MS to
compete in the MTC Half Marathon. It is nice course with rolling
hills. The problem this year was the high temperature (70s) and
humidity (1857%!) during the race. It took a toll on many
runners!! You know... you expect to be running under cooler
conditions in December!
Anyway, three Pine Belt pacers were there: Phillip Wedgeworth,
Larry Sykes and I. Phillip and I were running the event as a
tune up for the Blues Marathon coming in 4 weeks. He will be
running the whole marathon; I will do the Half. Larry was there
race walking.
In general, I felt good through the 13.1 miles. I just struggled
a little bit between mile 5 and 6 (In fact, I still don't know
why!). I covered the distance in 1:50:11 and was 33rd overall.
Phillip finished in 1:54:05 and won his age group. Larry
finished around 2:30:21 and was second among the male race
walkers.
Let's see what is the next run in the calendar! maybe the 10K in
Pass Christian or maybe I am just done for 2007!!
