The 2007 edition of the Hobble Then Gobble 5 Mile Run and Walk
took place in Lake Serene this morning. One hundred runners,
including lots of Pine Belt Pacers, and 12 walkers completed the
5M hilly course under cold and windy conditions. A group of
enthusiastic kids and their parents ran the 1-mile fun race
later. Hattiesburg's new resident, Leo Cappabianca, was the
overall winner with a time of 29:29 closely followed by Jeff the
Rock Hathorn who finished in 30:12. Bob Press was third in
31:52. Sheryl won the women's category in 33:05. Second place
went to JCJC's young teacher Margaret Ann Moore who finished in
36:03 and third to Anna Griffith (37:12). Glyn Trigg from the
Jackson area won the walking division in 1:08:14. Khalid and
Mustafa Khannouchi took advantage of the nice course and did a
slow fun training run. However, they managed to stay ahead of
most of the group of runners. Since it was the first time I
literally ran ALL THE TIME in a 5m run, I got a PR for the
distance (36:38).
