Dispatches from El Jefe Division del Norte
As it has been some time since I sent a general address to the under-trained, beleaguered forces in the Pine Belt, it is appropriate that greetings and encouragement be sent at this time. Dr. John Pendergrass, war hero and several-time Ironman finisher, has currently established a training camp here and has published his scrapbook on this website. Along with Elmer and Ann Beardshall, Dr. David Beckett, Steve Phillips and others, these results will serve to motivate all the slackers in the club who felt that their best days were behind them. (No offense, Jim Coll…) Dr. Pendergrass will be competing in Ironman South Africa in two months. Currently, he is training approximately nine hours per day three of them in the pool… If you haven’t checked the Mardi Gras Marathon website, you really need to… For those of you like Vicki Copeland and Keith Barrett, who are on the fence about attending, you will miss a great time if you don’t go. This race has been dramatically improved, with major changes to the course added. My favorite is the link to historical aspects of the new route. Great job, NOTC! Yes, I will be attending the festivities in New Orleans. Hopefully, I will soon be announcing a get-together the evening before the race in the Big Easy. For all you loyal followers, those who have not lost hope of my retaking the PBP presidency, hang in there. El Abandonado |
