Go Run and KPLC Television Present Inaugural Crazy Cajun 10k

Lake Charles, LA – Runners and walkers can enjoy the beautiful shoreline of Lake Charles while competing for grand prizes of $100 for top male and female finishers as the Crazy Cajun 10k race debuts October 25th, 2008 in downtown Lake Charles, Louisiana. The race, sponsored by Go Run and 7 At Your Service KPLC-TV, begins and ends at the Lake Charles Civic Center. Proceeds benefit the Literacy Council of Southwest Louisiana.

Other prizes include $75 for second place and $50 for third place among both male and female runners, plus first, second and third place awards in all age and gender categories.

The race also includes a one-mile fun run for children and a two-mile competitive walk.

All entrants will receive a race t-shirt as well as a goody bag from our race sponsors. Water and Gatorade will be provided throughout the course.

The $25 advance registration fee goes toward the Literacy Council of Southwest Louisiana’s efforts to provide free instructional programs to improve educational skill levels in the area and to increase public awareness of literacy-related issues. Entry fees increase to $30 on race day.

"This event is about promoting health and fitness through the fun activities of running and walking, plus helping a vital organization like the Literacy Council," said race director and Go Run co-founder Phyllis Aswell.

Run the race as your favorite literary character and be eligible for additional prizes in the costume division.

After the race, contestants and their supporters can enjoy music, food and fun at the post-race party.

Lake Area Runners will provide timing for the races.
