A good crowd showed up on Saturday, May 8 to run the Old
Time Festival
5K race. Over 50 pre-registered and many more
registered at the race to
add to the number. After a few instructions from race director Kim
Rutland, Kim gave the signal to start the race. After taking it easy for
about a quarter of a mile, Robin Ryder decided to head to the front of
the pack and take control of the race. He finished first without any
serious challenge. Katie Herrington was the first female finisher. Bob
Herrington added to the family name by taking the Masters award. Vicki
Copeland was the female Masters winner. Phillip Wedgeworth and Becky
Ryder were the Grand Masters winners. Several Pine Belt Pacers ran well
and placed. Richard Sims, Nestor Anzola, and Ray Martin all ran well.
After the race door prizes were given out to some lucky people. Thanks
to all of the hard work that all of the workers put into this race.
