At the Hood Scout Reservation in Hazlehurst.  If you've ever had an interest in doing an XTERRA triathlon or an adventure race, this would be a great place to start. The swim is short, the bike is not technical but still challenging and the run is flat. Plus it's a fundraiser for the Boy Scouts so it's for a great cause. In past years some triathletes who are not serious mountain bikers have been concerned about having the necessary skills to "race" their bikes at this event. About 75% of the course is either Jeep roads or double track that can be driven by the Gator utility vehicle they use at Hood. The other 10% is single track that is not particularly technical. The course is hilly enough to be fun and challenging, but not dangerous. From past years, I would say that most people would compare the 14-mile ride to about 25 miles on the road in terms of time and effort. If you're still not convinced, grab a mountain biking buddy and enter as a team. You can do the swim and run and have an off-road-riding friend do the ride.
If you've done the race and enjoyed it, let everyone know. And you can enter on-line.
