Trace Series Race #3
The Pine Belt Pacers Trek
the Trace Series Race #3 is now officially over. It was a great
race... and of course it was run under temperatures in the 3-digits
again! We had another good turn out with 10 kids running the 1/2
mile run and 18 walkers and runners participating in the 2-mile
predicted time race. We had a couple of new faces in the event.
In week 3 we returned to
the original format in which everyone predicts his/her time and the
one closest to his/her guess wins the running shoes. Ginny Dufrene
nailed her time and won the first place prize. She predicted
15:25 and finished in 15:25. Close behind came last week's winner
Mark Filbey who was just 3 second off his predicted time. Steve
Phillips finished third (4 seconds off) while Chad Dufrene and David
Beckett shared the fourth position (8 second off). Pine Belt Pacers
rookie, Haynes Haselmaier, finished sixth overall in his first race
as a club member. After this event, Terry Lawhead keeps leading the
Grand Prix standings in the men's open division 3 points ahead
of Raul Anzola and 7 ahead of Keith Barrett. In the women's
category Audrey the Gazelle Jackson is the leader being followed by
Sheryl Irongirl Chatfield and Donna Smiley Sumrall.
As always we enjoyed
great food and beverages after the race. Thanks to Audrey, Becky,
Hollie, Keith, and Irongirl Sheryl for the great organization.
Sorry, not pictures this week! Someone forgot his camera in
home this time! See you next week. We hope we can have there everyone
who has run any of the races in the 2007 series (around 40!
The
highlight of the day was the kid's Fun Run. The 1/2
mile event took place at 6:00pm. Aubrie Ware, Grace
Sanders, Elizabeth Lawhead, Katelyn Lawhead, Luke Logan,
Chad Filbey, Aaron Hilpp, Jacob Hilpp, Douglas Lawhead and
his mom lined up at the start line and were ready for the
challenge. They went off really really fast!!! Everyone
did great and had a smile at the end! All of them were
winners, received their medal proudly, and were off to
enjoy some delicious popsicles.
