Trek the Trace 2-Mile Series -
Week 4
The last race of the
2007 2-mile predicted time series took place yesterday under threatening
skies. However, almost everyone managed to finish before the rain
fell. It was good to see another field of twenty participants, some old
faces back again and a number of new faces as well. Steve Phillips was
the winner of the event with another very accurate prediction of his
time. He was just 2 seconds off of his predicted time14:22. Terry
Lawhead and Nestor Raul Anzola tied for second place (3 seconds off)
while Kily Garcia placed fourth one second behind (-0:04). Ginny
Dufrene was the winner among the ladies, placing 5 overall (5 seconds
off). Because a mistake of my part, the kids also ran the 2-mile
distance. They did a great job. Nine-year old Luke Logan finished in
21:47 while 6-year old Jacob Hilpp was just 50 seconds behind Luke
(22:37).
Thank you so much to all
who participated in this year's Trek the Trace 2-Mile Series. Close to
50 runners and walkers and 15 kids participated in at least one event,
with the events averaging about 30 participants per week. Six runners
were present all four weeks, three of which won running shoes. Kudos
to Series director Audrey Jackson, to Hollie and Becky Ryder and all
other volunteers who helped with the weekly organization of the
event. Thanks also to Mustafa Kannouchi (and Soccer Locker & City
Runner) for his continuous support to the Pine Belt Pacers activities.
